Irony is a figure of speech in which the real meaning is exactly the opposite of what is conveyed or stated. There are various forms of Irony in our literature such as verbal irony, situational irony, and irony in the story plot. The impact created by these figures of speech is entirely dependent on the audience or reader’s understanding of the difference between the actual scenario and the stated scenario.
Eg: Telling a rude customer to have a nice day; Walking into an empty theatre and asking “isn’t it too crowded?”
